The ACB 1.8 is a self-retracting lifeline designed for securing in aerial work platforms. Of course, it can also be used like a traditional self-retracting lifeline. It serves primarily as a restraint system. The ACB 1.8 offers the user absolute freedom of movement in the cage. If there is a catapult effect (ejection from the basket), the ACB 1.8 catches and keeps the user in the basket. Even in the event of a fall over the railing of the work cage, the ACB 1.8 catches the user and reduces the impact force to less than 3 kN (300 kg). Anchorage points in work baskets are very weakly dimensioned and could tear out when using conventional shock absorbers.

The ACB 1.8 reduces the fall forces to such an extent that the anchorage point can withstand it. The edge test of 2x90° was also carried out on the ACB 1.8. Due to the integrated fall absorption in the device, it reacts extremely quickly and thus the fall clearance is kept to a minimum. An oval-shaped steel carabiner with a trilock closure and a maximum length of 110 mm must be inserted into the swivel.
